Raise the Roof

There is negative thinking.

There is positive thinking.

There are circumstantial facts, the way things appear to be.

And there's the Word of God.

What we think about usually determines what comes out of our mouths. What comes out of our mouths usually determines our course of action. The Bible puts it this way.

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7

And it begins with who we listen to, what we watch, and who we hang around. Over time you will begin to think like the rest. This is how a complete society shifts in the same direction. We wonder how did an entire country fall for the atrocities that happened in Germany during WW2? How do we, as a nation turn so far from God's Truth?

Think about what you think about.

Jesus said, Heaven and earth will pass away, but my Words will never pass away.

Matthew 24:35

The Bible says to renew our minds...daily. Daily...every day. Fill, and keep on filling your heart with God's Truth. Don't just take another person's thoughts, though they may be good and encouraging. God Himself will be your teacher.

All throughout the Bible this theme resonates.

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name (Jesus), will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. John 14:26

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. I John 2:27

Don't just rely on the preacher. It is up to each one of us to seek the Truth. Don't give your mind over so easily to what others think. Jesus said you will find me when you seek me with all your heart. Don't relinquish this quest to others. Test everything by the Word of God. Store up the Word in your heart. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Read it aloud to yourself or to your family. There are good teachers and God sends them but always test what they say by the Bible.

The Word of God will last forever. It will stand.

In the beginning, God said. He spoke and it was.

As we read, He will teach us. As His Word abides in us, we will be changed more and more into the image of Christ. This is a work of His Holy Spirit. He will do it.

Right now we don't see things clearly. We have limited visibility. God's Word is Truth and if we dare to believe it, things will change. This brings hope. Don't settle for less than God's best for you. I remember a time I felt little hope. The only thing I could put my weight down on was the Word of God. The Word of God puts light on your path when you don't know which way to walk. Pray and ask God to teach you or show you...What next Lord?

Lord, Raise the Roof on our understanding! His visibility is limitless. He is the God of the Universe. I have said it before, trusting God, believing Him is probably the hardest thing we will ever do. But, He said, all you need is a mustard seed size faith. And He even supplies that.

May the God of all hope fill you with all joy and peace as your trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
