The Cathedral Door

While in England, we saw many beautiful castles and cathedrals. On our journey, lofty places ornately built for worship. And I loved it all. This door is from Christ Church, Oxford, UK. We were able to go through these doors and experience an Evensong service. But, on our way back home, I began to think of places, simple places that also inspire worship. Our creek, a morning walk, the woods, watching the birds...all made and sustained by God. And so these words came...
The woods are my cathedral
Built by the King of Kings
And the feather robed choir in the treetops
Lift their sweet voices and sing.
Worship is all around here
From the squirrel, the birds, and the bees
In chorus they raise their voices
From the cathedral of the trees.
All are welcome to this worship
Amid holy pillars standing tall
To whisper prayers in worship
To the God who made it all.
Find rest beside streams of water
And find there is so much more
Worship the King of all creation
And open your heart, the cathedral door.
