Your Road to Wellness

The New Year is a time of new beginnings. It is a time of making changes, a time of setting goals, and getting back on track or starting something new.

No one hits the mark every time but we can reach for it, especially if it means improving your health. The first place you must have wellness is in your heart and mind. After hitting some low spots and spending time and money on doctors, supplements, books, etc. I wasn't getting the deep down answers I needed. Those are all good but they are tools that God may or may not use on your healing journey. Drs. and nurses are amazing servants but they are human, just like you and me. The deep down questions are only answered by the One who made you. In my longings to find answers I opened my Bible and looked for His great and precious promises. I hung on every word and went to Him in prayer.

"Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."

Proverbs 3: 7,8

I started listening. When you are down, you start listening like you've never listened before. Maybe I stopped leaning on my own understanding. I don't have all the answers.

God speaks profoundly and sometimes simply.

"My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. (are you listening?)

Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body."

Proverbs 4:20

I did learn some things a long the way that I endeavor to incorporate in my life. But this I learned; even if I did every little thing right, my life is still in His hands. The thing was, in those dark times, it didn't feel like I was in His hands, but I was.

Here are some practical steps to take care of you on your journey:

  • Turn the TV off - we have so many mindless distractions. When you watch, watch something good.

  • Start Listening - Dive deep into the Bible. Find the scriptures on healing and health for your body. I began listening to Derek Prince on YouTube and Grace Center podcasts. Ask God to lead you . There is no substitute for reading the Bible. Take it for what it says, don't try to analyze it. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you what He wants you to know.

  • Drink water and lots of it- Pure clean water washes toxins from your body. 64 oz. is recommended. Purpose to do it and keep a record.

  • Eat fresh vegetables and fruit - Preferably organic. God made you and He made food to fuel your body. Strive to consume mostly non processed food and your body won't have to figure out what to do with the additive chemicals.

  • Get moving - Walk outdoors, breathe fresh air, look at the sky (my favorite thing to do), and all of God's creation. Let your bare feet touch the ground, those nutrients will permeate your skin. (untreated grass only, you don't want those chemicals in your body) I listen to worship music and podcasts while I walk.

  • Rest and Sleep Well - Go to bed early, read, and wind down. Turn off your screens and tell your body its time to go to sleep. Say your prayers and forgive as you lay your head down. Tell God everything, He loves you.

Begin and end your day with God. Jesus promised to never leave us or forsake us. Dig deep into His Word and cling to His promises. At the end of the day, He is the only One who brings peace and joy to our hearts. He is the Great Physician, the One who knows you best and loves you most.
